The Tangent Spectrum XATM is a compact Dolby Atmos-certified speaker designed to add a convincing vertical dimension to a compatible home theatre system. Vertical Sound For Dolby Atmos

Dolby Atmos introduces height information into a home theatre soundtrack, allowing sound to be perceived not only around the listener but also above them. The Spectrum XATM provides this additional vertical dimension by firing the height channel toward the ceiling, where the sound is reflected back toward the listening position.

This approach provides an easier alternative to installing dedicated in-ceiling speakers, particularly where structural limitations, rental restrictions or room aesthetics make ceiling installation impractical.

Designed To Work With Spectrum X6

The Spectrum XATM is specifically designed to sit on top of the Tangent Spectrum X6 floorstanding speaker. Tangent's installation guidance recommends positioning the X6 first and then placing the XATM on top, using the speaker's integrated rubber surface to keep the Atmos module securely positioned without requiring glue or screws.

This creates a clean, integrated front-stage solution while maintaining the visual character of the Spectrum range.

Coaxial Driver Performance

The XATM uses a coaxial driver arrangement consisting of a 20 mm tweeter and 120 mm mid-bass driver. By placing the two drivers on the same acoustic axis, the speaker maintains a coherent radiation pattern that is well suited to its upward-firing Atmos application.

The specified frequency response of 70 Hz–20 kHz, combined with 88 dB sensitivity and a 6-ohm impedance, makes the XATM suitable for integration with a wide range of compatible AV receivers and home theatre amplifiers.

Simple Atmos Upgrade

One of the key advantages of the XATM is that it adds Dolby Atmos height effects without requiring the installation of speakers in the ceiling.
