The Sonus faber Olympica III G3 is a three-way floorstanding loudspeaker from the third generation of the celebrated Olympica collection. It combines Sonus faber's distinctive lute-shaped handcrafted cabinet with a newly developed Camelia paper-cone midrange, a DAD™ Arrow Point extended-frequency silk tweeter and two dedicated 165 mm paper-cone woofers.

Olympica G3 brings acoustic technologies derived from Sonus faber's flagship Suprema development into a refined floorstanding design, combining advanced engineering with natural materials, handcrafted wood and precision-machined aluminium details.

Camelia Midrange

The 165 mm Camelia midrange is one of the defining technologies of the Olympica G3 generation. Developed in-house by Sonus faber and originally created through the company's Suprema research, its distinctive membrane geometry is inspired by the natural form of the camellia flower.

The non-circular membrane is designed to reduce unwanted resonances while presenting its surface effectively to the listener. Sonus faber describes the resulting character in terms of transparency, vocal realism and natural reproduction.

Dedicated Cork-Damped Midrange Chamber

In the Olympica III G3, the tweeter and midrange are housed in a dedicated closed acoustic chamber. The midrange enclosure incorporates a shaped cork structure developed using computer simulation.

This arrangement helps isolate the critical midrange from the bass enclosure while using a natural damping material to control unwanted internal energy. The result is a carefully controlled acoustic environment for vocals, acoustic instruments and other midrange information.

Refined High-Frequency Reproduction

The 28 mm DAD™ Arrow Point extended-frequency silk tweeter handles the upper frequencies of the Olympica III G3. Its extended-frequency design is intended to provide detailed high-frequency reproduction while maintaining the refined tonal character associated with Sonus faber's silk-dome implementation.

The crossover points are specified at 365 Hz and 2,460 Hz, dividing the system between its bass, midrange and high-frequency sections.

Powerful Full-Range Performance

Two 165 mm paper-cone woofers provide the low-frequency foundation of the Olympica III G3. The three-way architecture allows the dedicated midrange driver to concentrate on the critical vocal and instrumental region while the twin woofers handle the lower frequencies.

The official specification lists a frequency response of 42 Hz–40,000 Hz, 90 dB sensitivity and a 4-ohm nominal impedance. Sonus faber recommends amplification from 50–300 W with an undistorted signal.

Italian Design & Craftsmanship

The Olympica III G3 retains the characteristic lute-shaped cabinet that defines the Olympica family. The collection draws inspiration from Palladian architecture, with its asymmetrical silhouette combining proportion, depth and sculptural form.

The third-generation design introduces refined matte grey sandblasted aluminium elements and polished 45-degree chamfers alongside the handcrafted wood surfaces. The result is a loudspeaker designed to function as both a sophisticated audio component and a carefully crafted piece of furniture.
