Sonos Amp Multi-Zone Streaming Amplifier
Professional 8-Channel Multi-Zone Streaming Amplifier
The Sonos Amp Multi is a professional-grade multi-channel streaming amplifier designed for sophisticated residential audio installations. Built specifically with custom integrators in mind, it combines eight independently configurable amplified outputs, four-zone flexibility, 125 watts per channel and Sonos multiroom control in a compact rack-oriented chassis.
With advanced GaN amplification, Class D architecture and Post-Filter Feedback (PFFB), Amp Multi delivers high efficiency, low distortion and stable performance while remaining completely fanless. Its flexible output assignment allows installers to adapt the amplifier to different room configurations and evolving system requirements.
Built For Professional Installation
Amp Multi is designed from the ground up for professional residential audio and custom-integration projects. Eight amplified outputs can be independently configured for stereo or mono and assigned across up to four separate zones, allowing installers to create flexible distributed-audio systems without requiring a separate amplifier for every zone.
Multiple Amp Multi units can also be deployed for larger installations, making the platform suitable for expansive whole-home audio systems and projects where additional zones may be required in the future.
125 Watts Per Channel
Each channel delivers 125 watts into 8 ohms with all channels driven, providing ample power for a wide range of low-impedance passive architectural and conventional speakers.
The amplifier supports a minimum impedance of 2.67 ohms when used with Sonos Architectural speakers, giving installers additional flexibility when designing distributed audio systems.
Advanced Gan & Pffb Amplification
Amp Multi combines Class D amplification with Gallium Nitride (GaN) technology and Post-Filter Feedback (PFFB).
GaN switching technology enables high power efficiency and reduced heat generation, while PFFB is designed to maintain accurate amplifier performance across different loads. The combination delivers low distortion, strong control and efficient operation in a professional installation environment.
Fanless Thermal Design
The high efficiency of the GaN amplifier architecture significantly reduces heat generation, allowing Amp Multi to use passive convection cooling instead of cooling fans.
The result is quiet operation with no fan noise and reduced dust accumulation—an important advantage for dedicated listening rooms, media rooms and residential rack installations.
Protune Per-Channel Optimisation
ProTune provides professional installers with detailed control over each amplifier output.
Each channel can be individually adjusted using a 10-band parametric EQ, with adjustable gain, Q and frequency parameters. Additional controls include high-shelf, low-shelf and bell filters, gain trim, delay and high-pass filtering.
This allows installers to compensate for speaker placement, room acoustics and system requirements on a per-channel basis.
Sonos Architectural Speaker Optimisation
When paired with compatible Sonos Architectural speakers, Amp Multi can recognise the speakers through the Sonos app and apply dedicated tuning and DSP.
This helps provide a more even frequency response and optimises system performance while supporting stable operation of the connected speaker system.
Complete Sonos App Control
Amp Multi integrates into the Sonos ecosystem, allowing users and installers to manage zones, sources, output assignments and system status through the Sonos app.
The platform provides the familiar Sonos multiroom experience while giving professional installers substantially greater output and zone flexibility than a conventional two-channel streaming amplifier.
Wi-Fi 6 & Ethernet Connectivity
Amp Multi supports both wired and wireless networking.
A 100BaseTX Ethernet RJ45 connection provides wired network integration, while Wi-Fi 6 supports compatible 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks. This gives installers flexibility when positioning the amplifier within a dedicated equipment rack or distributed network infrastructure.
Flexible Audio Inputs
Amp Multi includes two RCA analog inputs, configurable as a stereo source into one zone.
A USB-C analog audio input is also available when used with the Sonos Line-In Adapter, supporting 44.1kHz / 16-bit stereo audio into any zone.
Subwoofer Integration
A dedicated RCA subwoofer output can be configured to operate from one zone, while compatible Sonos Sub products can be integrated with each zone.
This makes Amp Multi suitable for distributed systems where different rooms may require their own low-frequency reinforcement.
Streaming & Multiroom Audio
As a Sonos product, Amp Multi provides access to the Sonos ecosystem and supports direct streaming technologies including Apple AirPlay 2 and Spotify Direct Control.
Each zone can be independently controlled, allowing different rooms to play different content or synchronise playback throughout the home.
Rack-Ready Professional Design
Amp Multi has been engineered for installation environments with a compact 2U rack-mount configuration.
The optional rack-mount arrangement provides a clean and professional equipment-rack installation, while the thermally optimised chassis maintains airflow and passive cooling without requiring fans.
Scalable Whole-Home Audio
The combination of eight outputs and four configurable zones makes Amp Multi particularly well suited to whole-home audio, luxury residences, multi-room entertainment spaces and custom-installed architectural speaker systems.
Its flexible architecture also allows systems to evolve over time, with additional Amp Multi units available when a project requires more zones or greater speaker coverage.
