The Rogers AB3a is an active stereo subwoofer system specifically designed to enhance the performance of Rogers LS3/5A loudspeakers. Developed as a dedicated low-frequency partner for the iconic compact monitor, the AB3a adds deeper, more authoritative bass while preserving the natural musical character and spatial precision of the LS3/5A.
Based on the configuration of the original Rogers AB1, each AB3a functions as both a dedicated subwoofer and a supporting platform for the partnering LS3/5A. The Ls3/5a Just Got A Serious Performance Upgrade
The LS3/5A is renowned for its natural midrange, exceptional vocal reproduction and precise stereo imaging. The AB3a is designed to complement these strengths by adding carefully controlled low-frequency extension without compromising the character of the original monitor.
Each AB3a incorporates two Rogers LS3/5A bass units. The drivers are mass-loaded with a specific resin designed to lower the resonant frequency and stiffen the Bextrene cone, helping improve bass definition and attack while contributing to greater low-level spatial detail.
Precision-Matched Bass Integration
The AB3a provides adjustable gain, frequency and phase controls, allowing the subwoofer system to be tailored to the listening room, speaker position and personal preference.
This flexibility is particularly valuable when integrating the AB3a with the LS3/5A, allowing the additional low-frequency energy to become a natural extension of the main speaker rather than an obvious separate source.
Dedicated Amplification For Each Subwoofer
Each AB3a includes a 50-watt Class B transistor amplifier dedicated to its bass section. This creates a true active stereo subwoofer system, with each side of the stereo pair independently powered.
The recommended high-level Speakon connection allows the AB3a to receive the signal directly from the main power amplifier's speaker terminals, making integration straightforward while maintaining a direct connection to the main stereo system.
Designed To Work As Part Of The Speaker System
Unlike a conventional standalone subwoofer, the AB3a is designed to become part of the complete LS3/5A system. Each subwoofer acts as a dedicated support platform for the partnering loudspeaker, creating a visually coordinated and functionally integrated stereo system.
The AB3a is compatible with both 11 Ohm and 15 Ohm versions of the LS3/5A.
