Leben Rs-30EQ Phono Preamplifier
High-End Tube Phono Preamplifier With Cr-Type, Non-Nfb Phono Equalization
The Leben RS-30EQ is a high-end tube phono preamplifier designed for serious vinyl playback systems where musical transparency, natural tonal balance and careful analogue engineering are essential. Built around a CR-type phono equalizer and a carefully selected tube complement, the RS-30EQ is engineered to deliver clear, refined and highly resolving analogue performance.
Unlike conventional phono stages that rely on negative feedback within the equalization circuit, the RS-30EQ uses a carefully designed non-NFB CR-type equalizer. This approach is combined with premium components and a specially developed Orient-Core power transformer designed to minimize hum and protect the sensitive phono circuitry from unwanted interference.
Key Features
-
CR-Type Non-NFB Phono Equalizer – Designed to deliver clear and natural analogue reproduction without using negative feedback in the phono equalization circuit.
-
Premium JAN 12AT7A Tubes – Uses two GE JAN 12AT7A tubes selected for the phono amplification stage.
-
Dedicated 6X5GT Rectifier Tube – The power supply incorporates a GE 6X5GT rectifier tube as part of the carefully engineered valve architecture.
-
High-Precision RIAA Equalization – RIAA curve deviation is specified at less than ±0.2% for accurate phono equalization.
-
Specially Developed Orient-Core Transformer – Designed with careful shielding to help minimize transformer-related hum and protect the sensitive phono circuit.
-
High-Quality Audiophile Components – Selected components support the RS-30EQ's focus on clarity, musicality and long-term reliability.
-
Designed for Moving-Magnet Phono Systems – The 23.5 dB gain and 47 kΩ input impedance are suited to conventional MM cartridge applications.
Cr-Type, Non-Nfb Phono Equalization
At the heart of the RS-30EQ is a CR-type equalizer designed to achieve accurate RIAA equalization without adding negative feedback to the phono circuit. This architecture reflects Leben's approach to preserving the natural character and immediacy of the analogue signal.
With a specified RIAA curve deviation of less than ±0.2%, the RS-30EQ is designed to provide precise equalization while maintaining the musical character expected from a carefully engineered valve phono stage.
Carefully Engineered Valve Architecture
The RS-30EQ uses two GE JAN 12AT7A tubes in the phono amplification circuit, supported by a GE 6X5GT rectifier tube. The JAN-standard 12AT7A valves are selected for their suitability in demanding audio applications.
The combination of valve amplification, CR-type equalization and carefully designed power supply architecture gives the RS-30EQ its distinctive analogue design philosophy.
Orient-Core Power Transformer
Leben developed a dedicated Orient-Core power transformer specifically for the RS-30EQ. The transformer is carefully shielded to help suppress unwanted hum and interference that can compromise the performance of a sensitive phono preamplifier.
This attention to power supply and transformer design is especially important in a phono stage, where extremely small cartridge-level signals require careful protection from unwanted noise.
